Released 2006.
Carl’s take on the classic organ trio format with Pete Whittaker(organ) and Nic France(drums) featuring guest appearances by Julian Bury(bass), Steve Rose(piano) and Christian Brewer and Butch Thomas(saxophones) falls stylistically somewhere in-between the organ trios of John Abercrombie and John McLaughlin. The album also features some classical guitar-based tunes and a little drum’n’bass/jazz! All the musicians deliver fantastic performances and in particular, ex- Jaco Pastorius tenorist Butch Thomas plays with almost out-of control intensity.
The 2006 album was recorded the day after Carl finished a 3-day stint in Italy with Billy Cobham so he’s on top form! “The relatively unsung Orr's fleet-fingeredness and musical imagination, as evidenced by his confident dexterity and intriguing compositions, put him on one of the top shelves of today's guitar and overall musical elite. If there is any artistic justice at all, it is only a matter of time before many more people reach up and grab that particular book, open the pages and discover what they have been missing.” allaboutjazz.com
