Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Songs of All Time - "Young Americans" - Rated 486/500.

Bowie's 1975 "Young Americans" finds him amidst many back-up singers including Luther Vandross while David Sanborn played the sax solo. Includes "Fame", "Young Americans" and "Can You Hear Me".

Young Americans was recorded between tour dates at Philadelphia's Sigma Sound Studios, which was the capital of black music in the area. The Soul influence had a very obvious effect on Bowie's style. He even completely redesigned the stage for the rest of his tour.

"In 1975, Bowie traded his glammed-out Ziggy Stardust persona for an exploration of what he called "plastic soul." Yet this R&B homage is one of his warmest, wildest tales, recorded in Philadelphia with a then-unknown Luther Vandross on backing vocals and David Sanborn wailing on sax. "It's about a newlywed couple who don't know if they really like each other," Bowie said." - Rolling Stone
