The self-proclaimed Night Tripper developed a cult following with the release of his first major-label album, Gris-Gris in 1968, and his brew of voodoo incantations left an insurmountable influence among musicians. Fusing New Orleans music with elements of rock and psychedelia, Dr. John’s showmanship and elaborate headdresses captured the imaginations of fans across the world.
