Jason Marsalis, Jason Marsalis Live (Basin Street Records) That this trio, led by vibraphonist Jason Marsalis, boasts all rhythm instruments states its uniqueness on every cut. These guys—including Oscar Rossignoli on piano, Gerald Watkins on drums and Jasen Weaver on bass—are tuned into each other’s syncopation and grooves. The group was captured live in May 5, 2017 at the now-defunct Little Gem Saloon as part of Basin Street Records’ 20th anniversary celebration. All the material comes from Marsalis’ pen and appeared on several of the vibraphonist and drummer’s previous Basin Street releases.
