"The music has the verve and unabashed melos of Keith Jarrett's best work," wrote Stereophile magazine in 1994 about "At The Deer Head Inn", the first release of material from the pianist's spontaneous and, in retrospect, historic return to the site of his early years in Pennsylvania. Gramophone magazine called it "riveting" playing and the Los Angeles Times described it as a "compendium of grace". All of these qualities apply to this album, which contains eight previously unreleased tracks from the legendary evening and delves deep into the magic of this special event, where a Jarrett trio came together with Gary Peacock and Paul Motian for a single and unique occasion. Keith Jarrett: "It was like a reunion and a jam session at the same time."
You can hear standards such as "Everything I Love", "I Fall In Love Too Easily", "All of You", "Someday My Prince Will Come", "Golden Earrings", "How Long Has This Been Going On" and a wonderful bluesy interpretation of the Nat Adderley piece that gives the album its name.
