This rather obscure modal jazz extravaganza by Kohsuke Mine Quintet is actually a goldmine of pure improvisatory jazz potential. Originally released way back in 1973, it's the third of the five-piece's fitting number of five albums, all helmed up by the Japanese saxophonist Kohsuke Mine. Rubbing shoulders over the course of his life with the likes of Joe Henderson and Mal Waldron, Mine's work is a jazz diggers' delight, treasured for its limited availability and reissue-worthiness (shoutouts to We Are Busy Bodies). The five pieces on 'Daguri' duck and dive through high-energetics, jazz madness, noir blues and resonant piano.
