Suffering and sadness from having a difficult childhood, Lisa Simone, 56 years old, knows all too well. At the age of seven, Nina Simone’s daughter had already had thirteen nannies and would weep at the prospect of being separated from her mother because she would go on tour. Though through hard but educational years, Lisa patiently rebuilt herself and today delivers a luminous third album filled with joy, and honesty. This album is filled with authentic soul and groove where the trace of each of her scars can be followed, yet it also talks about reconciliation, spirituality, and peace found again.
