Formed in '66 with Art Neville, The Meters were New Orleans' official house band for the next decade, backing everyone from local acts (Neville Brothers, Dr. John) to Paul McCartney and Robert Palmer.
They also cut their own grooves, many with Allen Toussaint. As the Funky Meters, the band still smokes in live performance. This 16-track set spans '69-'76 - all their biggest singles and best album cuts for the Josie and Reprise labels. Highlights: The hits "Cissy Strut," "Sophisticated Cissy," "Look-Ka Py Py," "People Say" and "Hey, Pocky A-Way."
