Thelonious Monk - Piano Solo: The Centennial Edition Paris 1954

2017 European CD reissue.

The album is a reissue of his 1954 record Piano Solos - and as the name suggests, most tunes feature Monk performing solo, with a few trio performances sprinkled in. It was recorded in Paris by the Vogue label at a time when his career was still in it's early stages with Jean-Marie Ingrand (double bass) and Jean-Louis Viale (drums). This reissue also contains some previously unreleased tracks.
